Check in with your co-workers

Checking in with co-workers is as important as your weekly planning meeting. Adhoc meetings to ask ‘How are you?’ can be the difference between somebody feeling isolated or knowing you have their back. It doesn’t have to be verbal – a nod of the head to acknowledge you’re there, eye contact, and a smile; an email starting with, ‘Hey, how did the weekend go?’ can make a person feel supported. If you have a feeling that a person is experiencing a problem, ask them – don’t ignore it. They will know you’re there and friendships often blossom from a problem shared. Take time out today to check in with at least one co-worker.
